Dear Delegates, Faculty Advisors and Staff,

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the 14th iteration of the John Abbott College Model United Nations Conference (JACMUN) held on campus from April 6th to April 7th, 2024. I am forever grateful to the remarkable Secretariat and Staff who have worked tirelessly, with dedication and devotion, to fashion enticing committees and a memorable weekend.

The 2024 JACMUN conference prides itself in having committees constructed to respond to the different levels of experience and ability of each delegate. Hence, every delegate will have the opportunity to participate in stimulating discussions and negotiations, whether it is their first or tenth conference. However, this conference is not only about the committees and the hours spent in each session, for much amusement awaits outside of it. And so, we encourage all delegates to take part in the social events, stroll around the campus, visit the beautiful views of Saint-Anne-de-Bellevue, or sit by the waters that border the college. During these two days, it is unquestionable that valuable lessons will be learned, public speaking and cooperation skills will be improved and long-lasting friendships will be made.

I, Salem Zeleke Sinishaw, am truly honored to be serving as this year's Secretary-General. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the JACMUN Instagram (@jacmun.official) or email (jacmun.official@gmail.com). On that note, I bid you all farewell until April 6th, 2024!

Cordially,

Salem Zeleke Sinishaw

what is jacmun?

On April 6th and 7th, John Abbott College will be hosting the 14th iteration of its long standing Model United Nations conference, JACMUN. We are delighted to welcome beginner and experienced delegates alike to enrich their MUN journey by overcoming the obstacles set on their paths in our committees. Our goal is to open possibilities for all participants to test their abilities and weaknesses in a wide range of crises, specialized agencies and general assemblies. JACMUN’s Secretariat and staff members are wishing the greatest experience for all delegates to come and we will ensure nothing less from a memorable weekend!

We would like to acknowledge that John Abbott College was built upon the unceded and traditional lands of the Kanien'kehá:ka and Algonquin nations. It is JACMUN's great honour to be able to host its conference on this territory. We recognize and deeply appreciate the historic and ongoing Indigenous connections and presence on these lands and waters. We commit to building a sincere relationship with Indigenous peoples based on respect, dignity, trust, and cooperation, in the process of advancing truth and reconciliation.
