JACMUN 2025

April 5th and 6th

Letter from
the Secretary-General

Gabrielle Gilbert

Dearest Delegates, Faculty Advisors, and Staff,

It is my distinct pleasure to welcome you to the 15th iteration of the John Abbott College Model United Nations conference. This conference means so much to us all, and truly would not be possible without our phenomenal Secretariat, devoted staffers, and of course, you, our fellow delegates. On behalf of the 2025 JACMUN Secretariat, I would like to extend our sincerest thanks; you are constantly inspiring us to go above and beyond. JACMUN would not be what it is without you.

The JACMUN conference prides itself on the diversity of committees offered. Our goal is to create an enriching environment, accessible to everyone. For this reason, we have introduced a bilingual General Assembly, as well as committees of varying skill levels. Our devoted executives have also ensured an incredible social event that will guarantee enjoyment in and out of committee sessions. Networking is, after all, one of the main motivators for attending a MUN conference. These conferences are also the source of remarkable personal growth, enhanced confidence, and the improvement of skills such as public speaking, collaboration, and diplomatic debating.

I am truly honoured to be Secretary-General of JACMUN 2025; an experience we hope will be unforgettable for all in attendance. Whether this will be your first or last conference, may you love your time as a delegate as much as I have. It will be a pleasure to meet such inspiring minds. I wish you all the best.

Sincerely,

Gabrielle Gilbert

Secretary-General of JACMUN 2025

.

what is jacmun?

On April 5th and 6th, John Abbott College will be hosting the 15th iteration of its long standing Model United Nations conference, JACMUN. We are delighted to welcome beginner and experienced delegates alike to enrich their MUN journey by overcoming the obstacles set on their paths in our committees. Our goal is to open possibilities for all participants to test their abilities and weaknesses in a wide range of crises, specialized agencies and general assemblies. JACMUN’s Secretariat and staff members are wishing the greatest experience for all delegates to come and we will ensure nothing less from a memorable weekend!

We would like to acknowledge that John Abbott College was built upon the unceded and traditional lands of the Kanien'kehá:ka and Algonquin nations. It is JACMUN's great honour to be able to host its conference on this territory. We recognize and deeply appreciate the historic and ongoing Indigenous connections and presence on these lands and waters. We commit to building a sincere relationship with Indigenous peoples based on respect, dignity, trust, and cooperation, in the process of advancing truth and reconciliation.
