CRISIS
Times of troubles
TURMOIL in 17th century russia
Ten years ago, Huaynaputina erupted. Nine years ago, summer was absent. The famine lasted for two years. Two million people died. Chaos ensued. There were three different Tsars in the past ten years. Through a confusing chain of events, the polish king Vladislav decided to crown himself as Tsar. It seems that no one was happy about this arrangement, except for the spineless Seven Boyars. The Swedish wanted to crown themselves as the Tsar, while the domestic nobles wanted a Russian Tsar. The countryside effectively became lawless as the three forces clashed. The Polish army, local bandits, and Tatar raiders all took advantage of the situation as they looted the countryside, effectively removing what little remaining wealth Russia had.
Will the Double-Headed Eagle soar again, or it will forever perish under the occupying force of heretics?
